I found together with other people that all the camcordes SAMSUNG MiniDV in our possession have two anomalies:

1) The tapes recorded in 16:9 format will not appear correctly in standard DV camcorders native 16:9 of different brand:

using MiniDV recorded by SAMSUNG with 16:9 format in other camcorders, they not switch to 16:9, presenting a video on display at 4:3 deformed (crushed sideways) type like the one in the video sample filmed with this camcorder:

2) Black bands to the left side, top and bottom of the video acquired (OK side DX):

acquiring on PC (o MAC) a MiniDV registered by the same camcorder (or acquiring directly without record), you get a video like the one represented in the figure below:

In the display not notice anything, while you can only see in the video acquired. The video useful will not be 720 X 576 pixels as expected from Standard DV, but smaller.

In fact, in the video example above, the titles are displayed more left than the video background.

The problem persists even though the records on MiniDV with VP-D371W are acquired with camcorders branded differently (eg. Sony or Canon etc.). On the contrary, there is none of the two defects if the camcorder is used to acquire MiniDV recorded by any other products..

It shows that there is no proper compatibility with other standard products DV.

All this has been found on all devices of the same type, this can be confirmed in forums:

Obviously in characteristics from the official site, this is not specified anywhere.

What I have described on this page was sent by registered letter A/R to SAMSUNG ITALY which, after six months from the receipt of the letter (April 17, 2008):replied that the product is in any event FUNCTIONAL and is fully in the Standard provided by the parent for goods of that kind.

The Standard DV is developed in accordance with the specifications IEC 61834, then the answer I was not convinced. It was therefore not possible to obtain SAMSUNG MiniDV camcorders functioning properly, according to international specifications, I requested replaced with other products but different category, which exceptionally, after eight months of waiting, was granted exclusively for customer satisfaction.
